The word Jadau derives it's name from the colloquial term "Jad". Which means to embed gems and is commonly used in kundan, polki and meenakari jewellery.
Kundan is a manufacturing procedure which involves setting of stones with thin layers of pure gold while polki signifies the gem which is an uncut diamond.
Commonly the term Jadau jewellery is used for gems & pearls set in gold while kundan jewellery is used for glass stone and polki jewellery for uncut diamonds.
Today it is an integral part of the Indian wedding trousseau.
